Guarantees regarding variety authenticity and purity

Varietal authenticity and purity is of outmost importance to us and our customers, to what we are giving all the needed attention, ressources and have implemented production protocoles to make it impossible to inadvertently mix varieties. Each tree in our mother orchards carries a label to ensure that graftwood is properly harvested and rightly identified. The graftwood is tied in bundles, labeled and stored separately to avoid any risk of mixing varieties. All the ensuing production steps are also carrefully carried out so that throughout the whole cycle up to digging, storing and shipping to customers, our trees remain true-to-type 100%.

Moreover, Voinesti Nurseries’s tree production is monitored and certified by the National Certification Service.

Healthy well-developed trees with impressive roots

Our production protocols have evolved in time around one main objective: strong and even stronger roots! Why is that important? Professional growers know the answer. The quality of the root system determines the tree survival rate after planting. More roots means healthier trees and more stored nutrients that enable the plant to have a better start in the first year.

So, the technology we employ in the growing cycle is focused on keeping the best possible balance of vital elements and nutrients in the tree system. We achieve that by supplying what is needed through the irrigation and through foliar sprays. We rely mostly on organic products, as they are closer by nature to the tree’s physiology.

Do I have to book the trees ahead of time or wait until the planting season

We grow 100 – 120 000 walnut trees per year which is a large scale production. However, our trees are being shipped in various countries, we rarely have available trees as the planting season approaches, most of the trees being generally booked by the end of the summer. This refers especially to Voinesti’s varieties: Carpatica, Ovata and Rubin. This is the reason why we suggest placing your order as soon as you firmly decide to plant walnut trees.

You can get in touch with us directly or better via our dealer in your country. Please refer to the rubric Export Partners to find out how to get in touch with our representatives. Placing an order also means that an advance payment could be required of you, except for smaller orders that are registered without any financial commitment before tree dispatch.

We at Voinesti Nurseries developed and registered three varieties: Carpatica®, Ovata® și Rubin® that are highly valued niche cultivars. The three of them have been developed and officially registered in Moldova and later on in the European Union. These very distinctive and one-of-a-kind varieties, stirr curiosity of hundreds or thousands of amateurs, are appreciated by professionnal growers and are generally very popular.

Carpatica is a giant walnut, one of the biggest ever to be registered and multiplied in professional walnut nurseries. You name the various gastronomic, decoration or toy uses one could make of this huge nut. Ovata is a large commercial walnut with impressive 36 mm+ caliper with a fine crunchy kernel. It is very interesting for sales in-shell as its fine round appearance make it attractive tu consumers. Rubin is a variety with stark red kernel with great resistance to diseases, drought and cold winters.

Sorting our trees by size and caliper

We grow one-year-old and two-year-old walnut trees. As most nurseries in the world, we take care to properly sort the trees by height and, sometimes, by caliper. This is necessary in order to ensure the planting material uniformity. The grading is carried out following these levels:

5/10 cm (generally destined to other nurseries for an additional year of growing)
10/20 cm (can be supplied to other nurseries for additional growing or for low budget projects)
20/50 cm (though of small size, very strong rooted trees with guaranteed high survival rate after planting)
50/100 cm (standard excellent quality one-year-old trees)
100+ cm (one or two-year-old trees of impeccable quality)

All of our trees have great survival rate after planting, regardless of height. Different customers can choose the tree size that meet their expectations and budgets.
